Maharashtra win again; Goa bow out

Maharashtra drubbed Goa 3-0 to notch up their second successive win in Group B quarterfinal league in the 67th National Football Championship for the Santosh
Trophy at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium here on Sunday.

Maharashtra, who had thumped Jharkhand 4-1 in their opening match, top the group with six points from two games.

Tamil Nadu kept their semifinal hopes alive with a hard-fought 3-2 win in the other Group B tie.

Tamil Nadu are in second place with four points from two matches.
Tamil Nadu need to beat Maharashtra in their final game on Tuesday to enter the semifinals. Goa, one of the fancied teams here, and Jharkhand have been eliminated.
Hosts Kerala edged out Uttar Pradesh 3-2 to notch up their second win on the trot in Group C at Kochi.

Usman P (14th),  Kannan R (17th), and Shibinlal (26th) scored for Kerala.
UP reduced the margin through Biru Yadav (45+) and Vikas Kaira (90+).
Haryana beat Jammu and Kashmir 3-1 in the other group game.

Vikas  scored in the 30th and 44th minutes for Haryana, while Vivek added a third in the 84th minute.

Rohit Kumar netted J&K’s lone goal in the 33rd minute.
Kerala are sitting pretty with six points from two matches followed by Haryana and UP who have three points each.
