Child raped in east Delhi

Police apprehend accused from his hideout

A six-year-old girl was raped in east Delhi’s Mandawali on Saturday. When the victim’s health deteriorated, the perpetrator left her and fled from the spot, police said.

The abused child managed to walk to her house in an injured condition and narrated the incident to her parents. She was immediately rushed to Lal Bahadur Shashtri Hospital where she is undergoing treatment.

The accused, identified as Alam, was arrested from his hideout. Police said he lived in a rented accommodation near the victim’s house.

Police came to know about the incident when the victim’s family members called the police control room late on Saturday.

During interrogation, Alam told police that the victim was living near his rented accommodation.

Whenever she came into the lane outside her house, he too would reach there and start playing with her. Over a time he befriended her.

Condition deteriorated

“On Saturday at around 8 pm, when she came outside her house, he too reached there and allured her to his room,” police said.

“There, he raped her. When the victim’s condition deteriorated, he got scared and fled from there and went into hiding,” police added quoting the accused.

The police have registered a case of rape against the accused and also booked him under The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

He has been sent to 14 days judicial custody, said a police officer.
