Contaminated water: Man dies

A 75-year-old man, who had been admitted to the district hospital as he fell ill after drinking contaminated  water, died on Monday night.

He has been identified as Allahbaksh Nandannavar.

Meanwhile, the number of people who took ill after drinking the contaminated water has risen to 311, who are undergoing treatment at various government and private hospitals.

A temporary hospital has been set up at the government school at Tadakoda village, where residents took ill after drinking the contaminated water.

Water unpotable: Report

District health officer Dr N M Angadi said reports had shown that the water samples were not potable.

Deputy Commissioner Samir Shukla held an emergency meeting with officials of the Health and Revenue departments to discuss steps to bring the situation under control.

Steps are being taken to provide clean water.
