Lovelorn security guard tries to end life

Y M Umesh (28), a security guard, decided to take the extreme step after a married woman refused to accept his proposal for marriage, said the police. Umesh hails from Yelachenahalli in T Narasipura taluk of Mysore district. He came to Bangalore a few years ago and is serving as a security guard in Yeshwanthpur.

Four months ago, Umesh fell in love with a married woman. However, the woman advised him to regain his senses. But, Umesh kept urging her to marry him. Fed up, the woman approached the Peenya police. 

On Monday, Umesh entered the police station and demanded the police to invite the women to the station. When the police admonished him, he took out a can containing kerosene which he was carrying in a bag, doused himself and tried to set himself on fire. However, the cops prevented him from taking the extreme step. A case has been registered.

Two more suicides

Two persons committed suicide in separate incidents in the City.
Prem Kumar (25), a resident of Manjunathnagar in Basaveshwar police limits, ended his life by hanging on Monday. He was disappointed in life after having failed to secure a job after completing PUC. The incident came to light when his uncle, a security guard, returned home.

In another incident, an elderly person was found dead in his house in Siddapura police limits on Monday. The deceased, Krishnappa, was disappointed in life after his wife passed away.

He returned home in an inebriated condition on Monday night. Foul smell started coming out of his house on Tuesday. Neighbours informed his sons who resided nearby. They broke open the door, but he was already dead, the police added.
