India’s Akaash Ashok Kumar and Shabbir Dhankot finished 10th and 11th respectively, after the final round of the Masters event on the concluding day of the sixth Commonwealth tenpin bowling championships in Auckland on Sunday.

Akaash, starting at his overnight position of sixth, had a poor day. The Bangalore-lad lost his first two games to Singapore’s Jaris Goh (202-268) and Brendon Meades (194-226) of Australia.
Akaash registered his first win of the day against Rafik Ismail of Malaysia by 206-181 and tied his next game against John Wells (202-202).

However, Akaash lost his last match against Jason Watts (180-193) to round off with a tenth place finish.

Dhankot, who was ranked fourth overnight, scored 1055 pinfalls in six games on long oil condition to end 11th.

Dhankot started the second round with a 161-224 loss to Malaysia’s Isaac Russell and in his second match, defeated England’s Chris Oates 218-178. But losing the next three matches pushed him down the order.

The Masters event was won by Sam Cooley of Australia who defeated Javier Tan of Singapore (249-181) in the final. Malaysia’s Dayang took the women’s title.
