Innovation Challenge 2009

Schneider Electric India has kick-started the next edition of Innovation Challenge. Innovation Challenge is a contest for undergraduate engineering students. The students will have to come up with an innovative solution to one of the problems stated, and participating teams need to submit their answers to Schneider Electric. Based on the preliminary evaluation, 10 teams will be short-listed for the final round in Bangalore.  The short-listed teams will be invited to present their solutions at Schneider Electric’s R&D facility in Bangalore. Each team will be allotted 20 minutes for presentation and another 10 minutes for Q&A. In addition to certificates and trophies, the winning team will receive a cash reward of Rs.1 lakh and an internship opportunity at Schneider Electric. Jewellery design course

JSS Advanced Jewellery Design Technology Centre, Bangalore is conducting a free training course in jewellery manufacturing. The programme is being sponsored by the Karnataka State Women’s Development Corporation and will begin on November 2, 2009. The eight-week course is available only for economically backward candidates. Computer training in weaving

Powerloom Sevice Centre, Bangalore will be conducting a training programme under the  Suvarna Vastra Neethi scheme for SC/ST/OBC and General category candidates in rapier loom weaving and Computer Aided Textile Design training. The candidates of the two-month programme will get Rs 2,000 a month as stipend. Those living in Bangalore Urban, Ramanagaram, Mandya, Mysore and Chamarajnagar districts are eligible to apply for the programme, which is scheduled to begin on November 2, 2009. Corporate accounting course

The Bangalore Branch of SIRC Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is launching a weekend course in Corporate Accounting, Finance & Business Laws. The course will focus on topics like Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT), Transfer Pricing, International Finance, Service Tax, VAT among others. Classes will be conducted on Saturday mornings between 8.30 am and 1.30 pm from November 14, 2009 to April 10, 2010.
The course will be conducted at the Bangalore Branch of ICAI, ICAI Bhawan, 16/0, Millers Tank Bed Area, Bangalore 560 052. Course Fee is Rs. 20,000. The organisation will also sponsor five participants who will be allowed to nominate one extra participant without any additional payment.
