BJP chides Rahul for marriage remark

Last Updated 06 March 2013, 19:40 IST

Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s assertion that he was not keen on marrying and least interested in becoming the prime minister, the BJP has said the Gandhi scion was making the right noises realising that the Congress will not return to power in the next general elections.

“Rahul Gandhi has realised that he will not become the prime minister as the BJP-led NDA will form the government after the next elections,”  BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told reporters.

Gandhi should not question the commitment of married people, Hussain said. “Many married individuals are serving the nation. Sahid Hemraj, who was beheaded by Pakistani soldiers, sacrificed his life for the country,” he said.
