Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Thursday described the BJP government in the State as “unprincipled mad scramble by power hungry people” and alleged that the misgovernance has exposed the true face of the BJP.

“It (this government) is a divorce without separation. I do not understand how a breakaway group (the KJP) can continue to stay with the same party (the BJP) and enjoy power. The ruling party seems to have changed the very definition of divorce,” he stated at a media conference.

The government has become directionless, leading to policy paralysis. Karnataka used to be a vibrant State, but now it is in the state of paralysed cripple.

The image of Bangalore as the IT capital has taken a beating. Several major projects are languishing for several months as the government has not bothered to approve them, he charged and added that the winds of change are blowing fast and strong, and the Congress will come to power in the next Assembly polls.

Singhvi, however, strongly defended the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre, which has been rocked by a series of scams, saying that the Centre has shown its commitment to fight corruption by taking stern action against the guilty.

“The Congress has been following zero tolerance on corruption. We have shown the true commitment by taking action against the guilty,” he said.

Asked about the party’s taking on the CAG for having exposed scams in the government, he said the Centre has been contesting CAG findings on the grounds that the details are notional and not realistic. “We never said the CAG should be ignored. But, at the same time, do not say it is gospel,” he stated.

On Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s scathing attack on the Sonia Gandhi family, he said it shows that he is hankering for power.

“People of this country have always welcomed and supported renunciation rather than greed,” he stated, referring to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s statement that he is not nurtuting ambition to be the Prime Minister.

On the party’s move to induct some of the tainted leaders in Karnataka ahead of the Assembly polls, he said the party high command will take appropriate decisions after verifying whether charges made against these leaders are genuine.
