Work on Rajajinagar corridor begins

Six underpasses to be made signal-free in the first phase

The mega corridor connecting Yeshwanthpur with Okalipuram will run through Dr Rajkumar Road and is estimated to cost Rs 125 crore.

Three of the six proposed underpasses will be made signal free in the first phase. The Okalipuram underpass will be constructed in about eight months at a cost of Rs 10.5 crore.
The  Vivekananda College underpass will be constructed at a cost of Rs 7.71 crore with the 10th Cross junction estimated at Rs 12.5 crore. 

Present on the occasion, Congress leader D K Shivakumar, who parted nearly 3.5 acres of his land for the project, stated that the developmental work cut across party lines and is for a good cause in the long run.

As a bargain for parting with his land, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will be constructing a pedestrian underpass and an overbridge for crossing the road in the vicinity where a complex constructed by Shivakumar has been approved.

Meanwhile, the BBMP will be propose an alternative road for public use from Magadi Road to Rajajinagar during the construction period.
