The job index inched up from 715 in August 2009 to 719 to September 2009, according to report by Naukri.com, a recruitment platform.
The report, covering 41 industries, showed double digit rise in hiring activities across 14 industries in September. A single digit increase was reflected in 13 sectors whereas 11 functional areas reflected a dip.
Out of the top 13 cities, seven saw an upward trend.
Hiring activity went up across all experience levels: The highest growth was registered in the hiring for freshers and trainees which has gone up by 39 percent.
Citywise, Mumbai and Chennai saw a significant increase in hiring activity. Out of the 13 top cities, Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi/NCR region saw an upward trend in hiring at nine percent, 8.4 percent and 3.5 percent respectively. Smaller cities like Ahmedabad and Vadodara, witnessed double digit growth at 11.8 percent and 12.5 percent.
Hiring activity declined by 5.4 percent, 3.4 percent and 2.4 percent in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Pune respectively.
ITES/BPO saw an increase in by 18.3 percent while real estates and retail bounced back with an increase by 36.8 percent and 12.2 percent respectively. Banking and Finance and oil and gas saw drop in hiring activity by 6.5 percent and 4.6 prcent. The index was calculated based on job listings added on the site month on month.
