Rajasthan pacer Amit Singh gets provisional clearance

The IPL Technical Committee provisionally cleared Amit after which he was included in Rajasthan Royals squad against Delhi Daredevils last night, but said if reported again, he would be restricted from playing for a year.

Amit's action was reported by on-field umpires Daryl Harper and K Hariharan during Royals' match against Chennai Super Kings at Kimberley last weekend.

"Amit Singh's biomechanical testing report showed that all four types of deliveries tested, -- his stock delivery, the off-break slower delivery, off-cutter and leg-cutter - were legal and within ICC's legal tolerance limits," an IPL statement said.

"The report was provided by Prof Tim Noakes (Human Movement Expert), Dr Kerith Aginsky (Cricket Bowling Specialist/Biokineticist) and Dr Michele van Rooyen (Video Analysis Specialist) from the Department of Human Biology in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Cape Town.

"For all deliveries Amit Singh was seen to extend his arm from the arm horizontal position and consistently flex his elbow again prior to ball release, thus not constituting a throw. Therefore, for all deliveries the elbow angles reported are of the amount of elbow flexion and not extension between arm horizontal to ball release," the statemet said.

"Based on the conclusion of this report, the Rajasthan Royals have thus been allowed to retain Amit Singh in their team and play him in Season 2009 of the DLF Indian Premier League here in South Africa," it added.
