Major disappointment was in store for the JD(S) in the local body polls. The party which was successful in winning all the eight seats in the last ULB polls has lost one seat this time.
While Congress was in a better situation, BJP has collapsed with just only one seat. KJP has been successful in winning Alur town panchayat.
It has gained six seats out of 11, with JD(S) winning four seats and independent one seat.
JD(S) has secured more seats than predicted by winning 19 seats three more than last polls.
Congress which had won 11 seats last time has to be content with only nine seats. BJP has won only one seat and KJP has opened its account by winning one seat.
Hung verdict
Hung verdict at three local bodies has turned out to be bane to JD(S). It has lost at Arsikere, which is said to be the strong fort of the party. While it secured an impressive 22 seats, it has bagged only 11 seats, much to the shock of the partymen. Congress too has won 11 seats. Out of 15 seats in Arakalgud, Congress has won seven seats and JD(S) five. Independents have won three seats.
The situation is similar in Sakleshpur. While JD(S) won 11 seats, Congress secured six seats, BJP, KJP and others won two each. Though JD(S) has won in Holenarasipur, it is said that the party has taken a back seat. While it won 23 seats last time, it was able to secure only 16 this polls.
Congress has won five seats and two seats have been captured by Independents. Out of 23 seats in Channarayapatna, JD(S) got 12 (it had won 20 seats last time); Congress eight (three seats in 2007) and the other three seats have been won by Independents.
