BJP starts celebrations, Cong continues..

As the news of Congress winning majority of seats in the election for Mangalore City Corporation, broke on Monday, thousands of Congress workers and supporters thronged the Rosario Highschool premises in Mangalore, to mark the victory celebration.

The election code of conduct which was in force did not stop the party supporters from celebrating the victory by throwing garlands, bursting crackers, confettis, shouting slogans and singing songs.

Though the school premises where the vote counting took place, was earlier surrounded by the BJP supporters in large number who were all set to  celebrate expecting the victory, was later taken over by    the Congress supporters as the the total results were announced.

The police had to literally struggle to keep the crowd at bay, as the crowd tried to enter the school gate, to which the entry of general public was prohibited.

Celebrations slowly kick started at 10.30 am as the results of most of the wards were announced. It reached heights at around 11.15 am, when all the results were out, clearing the air over Congress winning with majority.

The party supporters held the winning candidates and carried them in open jeeps and cars around the city.

Though the BJP lost the election, the spirit of BJP supporters did not die down completely, so even they began the road show to mark the victory of some of their candidates.

JD(S) and SDPI too celebrated their victory as they too managed to win a few seats in different ULBs in Dakshina Kannada district.
