Last Updated 11 March 2013, 20:28 IST

Narasimha Reddy, 40, resident of HSR Layout, was killed and four others injured, when the car he was driving rammed a roadside tree near Kudlu on Sunday night.

The injured Naresh, Manjunath, Vijay Kumar and Manju have been hospitalised at Prashanth Hospital and being treated in ICU. Their condition is said to be stable and out of danger.

According to police, Narasimha Reddy was working as cab driver with Megha Cabs. On Sunday, he and his four friends had been riding around the City on the cab owned by Megha Cabs as part of ‘Shivaratri jagarane.’

After visiting a few temples, they landed at a bar, in Aralur. A heavily drunk Reddy was at the wheel of the vehicle moving towards Kudlu. He was overspeeding and probably tried to avoid a vehicle coming from opposite direction. Reddy may have taken a sharp right turn and rammed the car into an eucalyptus tree, the police said.

Shifted to hospital

The local people shifted the injured to a nearby private hospital, where Narasimha Reddy, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, was declared brought dead.

The body has been shifted to Victoria Hospital where an autopsy will be performed once his family arrives.

Madiwala Traffic Police have registered a case and are investigating. Police are yet to record statements of the injured now in ICU, after which a clear picture is expected to emerge.
