The secret of the island

Unable to stop tracking the signal, he sets out with a small group on a journey to the mysterious island — a place few people have ever seen or lived to tell about.  What they find is an island of stunning beauty, strange and threatening life forms, volcanoes, mountains of gold and more than one astonishing secret. Catch the movie on HBO at 9 pm on March 13. It stars Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson, Michael Caine, Luis Guzman and Vanessa Hudgens.

Under attack from aliens

In ‘Battle: Los Angeles’, Los Angeles and other cities around the world are being bombarded by meteors that seem to be slowing down once they hit the Earth’s atmosphere.

The Earth is suddenly invaded by space aliens that have landed off the shore of LA, who begin killing everybody along the beach. The military is ordered into action and marine staff sergeant Nantz (played by Aaron Eckhart), who was about to retire, is reassigned to a new platoon. The platoon, flown by chopper to the forward operating base at Santa Monica Airport, is being led by a new second lieutenant Martinez (portrayed by Ramon Rodriguez). They are sent on a mission to rescue some civilians who are trapped at the police station within alien territory. They only have three hours to complete their mission and get out. Watch the flick on Star Movies at 11.01 pm on March 13. It also stars Michelle Rodriguez and Bridget Moynahan.

‘There is a lot of work available now’

Actor Mahesh Thakur says that while the television industry is witnessing a lot of fresh blood, most newcomers are not taken in for their talent but because they have free time.

“Most actors who are new are not taken because they are talented. If they have 25 days in a month free, they are taken. There is just a lot of work available now, and one is not really on the lookout for talent,” Mahesh says. The actor is currently seen on Sahara One’s Ghar Aja Pardesi.
