223 students qualify in NTSE

As many as 223 students from Karnataka have qualified for the national level test of the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), a pretigious scholarship exam for students of class X. Of these 141students students who qualified from Bangalore, 44 students are from Ace Creative Learning.

These students would be writing the national level examination in the month of May where they will be entitled for a scholarship of Rs 6000-

The state level examination was conducted on 18th November 2012 across India. Over 40,000 students took up the examination in Karnataka alone.

The national level exam will be held on12 May 2013.

NTSE, conducted by NCERT, is a national level scholarship examination to identify and recognize students with extremely high intellect and academic talent. Until this year, NTSE was conducted for class VIII students.

In 2012, NCERT cancelled this exam for class VIII students and scheduled it for class X students.

Civil Service Exam

Applications are invited by UPSC for Civil Services Examination (Preliminary) 2013. Candidates are required to apply online by using the website www.upsconline.nic.in Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above mentioned website. Candidates appearing for Indian Forest Service Examination have to take this preliminary examination.  There will be separate main examination for IFS in September 2013.

The Preliminary Examination will consist of two papers of objective type (multiple choice questions) and carry a maximum of 400 marks. 

This examination is meant to serve as a screening test only; the marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination by the candidates who are declared qualified for admission to the Main Examination will not be counted for determining their final order of merit.

Last Date for receipt of Application: 4 April, 2013

Date of Prelims Examination: 26 June, 2013

Commencement of Main Examination: November / December 2013.

German language course for youth

Goethe Institut and Max Mueller Bhavan is organsing a German language course for youth The course will be held from April 2 to 19 from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 12.15 pm at Max Mueller Bhavnan,Bangalore. This course is for participants in the age group of 12 to 16 years.

An intensive course for teenages in the age group of 12 to 18 years will be held at the same venue from April 8 to May 23 from 2 pm to 6 pm.

An intensive course for teenagers from 12 to 16 years with international certification will be held from June 10 to November  29, 2013 at Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, Indiranagar on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5.15 to 6.45 p.m.

Registrations open: 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 pm. Monday to Friday on first-come, first-served basis.

Department of Performing Arts Bangalore University, Jnana Bharathi Campus, Bangalore has organised Two Days International Conference on Staging/Playing Gender: History, Theatre and Performance on March 27 and 28 as a part of the World Theatre Day.
