KSP were two goals ahead before 15 minutes of play in their opening Group B campaign that saw the Cops enjoying the lion’s share of possession.

Karthik opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Pradeep Kumar made it 2-0, rifling in a powerful volley. KSP, however, failed to cash in on further scoring opportunities until half time.

Seven minutes into the second half, Pradeep Kumar B V swelled the lead through a penalty as KSP took a firm grip on the match. BEL got one back through Mohan in the 74th minute but KSP’s Stephen erased any lingering BEL hopes with an 84th-minute strike.

In another Group B match, riding on a brace from Rajkiran, Sports Authority of India, Bangalore, edged out Indian Space Research Organisation 2-1. Rajkiran was the architect of the SAI win with goals in the 20th minute and 45th minutes. Lokesh reduced the margin for ISRO, who secured a place in this season’s Super Division as ‘A’ Division runners-up, in the 66th.

Results: SAI: 2 (Rajkiran 20th, 45th) bt ISRO: 1 (Lokesh 66th); KSP: 4 (Karthik ninth, Pradeep Kumar 13th, Pradeep Kumar B V 52nd, Stephen 84th) bt BEL: 1 (Mohan 74th).
