Lovers caught red-handed by family in UP, strangled at home

In another honour killing incident in Uttar Pradesh two lovers were allegedly strangled.

They were caught talking to each other in a field by the girl’s family and allegedly killed after they returned home.

The horrific incident occurred at Mukutpur village in Auraiya district on Saturday night.
Sources said the boy was having an affair with a girl of the same village for the past few years.

They used to meet clandestinely and their family members had no clue about their affair.
On Saturday, the lovers were spotted in the fields by some locals, who allegedly informed the girl’s family.

Bodies burnt

The family members caught hold of them, when they returned together, and allegedly strangled them. They immediately burnt both the bodies.

Police were told that the girl died of TB while the boy committed suicide.

“It appears to be a case of honour killing,” said an official.

The killing of lovers are quite common in UP, especially in the Jat-dominated western region.

Many a lovers have been murdered in the past by their family members for the sake of ‘family honour’.

Recently, three women were killed by their own family in different parts of Uttar Pradesh after they refused to desert their lovers.

In all these incidents, the murderers walked down to police stations and surrendered themselves.

They did not show any remorse and on the contrary justified their actions.

The khaps have also made it clear that they will not allow love marriages and marriages in the same gotra.
