No anomalies in allotment of mines: Gehlot

Last Updated 17 March 2013, 17:54 IST

Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday said he would quit politics if the allegations levelled against him of favouring his relatives in allotment of mines are proved.

“The opposition BJP is levelling false and baseless allegations which I have already rejected and am rejecting even today,” he said. “I do not believe in nepotism. There is no irregularity in the allotment of mines,” he added.

A few days ago, media reports alleged that close relatives of the chief minister were allotted mines in Jodhpur. When the issue figured in the state Assembly recently, Gehlot said the decision was taken by the cabinet and no one was favoured in the allotment of mines. He said the proposed refinery in Barmer would change the economy of the desert state in a positive way. On the transfer of the Jaipur police commissioner to pacify agitating advocates in Jaipur, Gehlot said transfers were a routine affair.
