Man commits suicide over 'marital dispute'

Two people, including a woman, have allegedly committed suicide in different parts of the City since Sunday.

A BMTC bus driver was found hanging dead at his house in Kashinagar near Amrutahalli on Monday morning. Vasanth Kumar, 38, a native of Gulbarga, was working at the Shantinagar depot.

Police said Kumar had differences with his wife who had recently left for her parents’ house along with their child. He was alone at home when he hanged himself.

The incident came light on Monday morning when Kumar’s brother, who lives a few streets away, visited his house after he did not answer phone calls.

When Kumar did not open the door after several knocks, his brother broke it open and found him hanging from the ceiling fan.

Police said the reason for Kumar’s death was not known.

Woman hangs self

A woman allegedly hanged herself at her house in A Narayanapura on Sunday evening.
Police said Priya, 21, committed suicide unable to bear stomach ache. She was married two years ago to Bhaskar who works for a private firm.

Priya had given birth to a baby boy a couple of months ago and since then had been suffering from acute stomach ache.

Though she was treated at various hospitals, the pain persisted, her family members told the police.

On Sunday evening, Priya took her baby to a room on the pretext of breastfeeding the child. However, when the baby started crying after some time, her husband and her mother called her out several times, but no avail.

They broke open the door and found her hanging from the ceiling fan.

Mahadevapura police have registered a case.

Labourer found dead

A construction worker was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a water pit at a construction site in JP Nagar IV Phase on Monday morning.

Hanumanthappa, 19, a native of Andhra Pradesh, was found dead in a 10-ft-deep water-filled pit at the basement of the building.

The pit was dug for installation of an elevator. The incident came to light when one of the construction workers went to the pit to fetch water.

Police said Hanumanthappa was missing from Friday evening and other workers at the building were under the impression that he must have left for his village in Andhra Pradesh.

A case of unnatural death has been registered.
