'Babli Badmaash' is my ode to Amitabh Bachchan: Priyanka

Actress Priyanka Chopra, whose look in retro chartbuster 'Babli Badmaash' resembles that of Amitabh Bachchan's disco number from 'Yaarana', says the item song is an ode to the megastar.

Priyanka is seen wearing an edgy costume of rubber and leather studded with LED lights loosely resembling the jacket worn by Bachchan for the popular 'Saara Zamana' from the 1981 blockbuster, in Sanjay Gupta's upcoming film 'Shootout At Wadala'.

"I have acted in three remake films ('Don', 'Agneepath' and 'Zanjeer') of Mr Amitabh Bachchan. I am big fan of him. Unfortunately, I couldn't play his role. So it is my ode to him through this song," Priyanka told reporters here last night at the launch of the song here.

The retro track is composed by Anu Malik, sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and choreographed by Ahmed Khan.

"I had a good experience while doing the song. It was hectic but fun. We had to finish the song in two days I had to shoot for 'Gunday'. I enjoyed doing the song," she said.
"In real life, I am not badmaash (naughty)... I am decent," she said.

Ask her if she is ok with the tag of an item girl, Priyanka says, "I think the item girl tag is overdone. It is a guest appearance song I did for Ekta. By calling it that way it sounds a bit cheap. I am satisfied and happy the way the song has come out. I hope people like it," she said.

There were reports that Priyanka had kept a check on the lyrics of the song, considering the hard stance of Censor Board on certification of item songs.

"As a team we were aware of the recent happenings so we had decided not to use any such words in the song. It has to be a clean song," she said.

"I think we should focus on the laws, protecting women rather than targeting film industry, Bollywood songs, films, books etc," she added.
