Militants kill BSF man in Jammu & Kashmir

 Just a week after the deadly attack on a CRPF camp in Bemina, militants opened fire at a BSF convoy on Thursday killing a para-military personnel and injuring two others on the outskirts of the city here.

Police said unidentified militants fired upon BSF vehicle (JK05/7615) of 8th Battalion at Methain Bypass here at 7:30 am in which three para-military personnel were injured.

Injured personnel were rushed to 92 Base Hospital of the Army at Badamibagh cantonment here, where constable Krishen Kalita (No. 94007147) succumbed to his injuries as a bullet had passed through his ear into his head.

The condition of the two other injured personnel – Hem Singh and Saikia – was stated to be stable, police said.

Deputy Inspector-General (Central Kashmir) Syed Afad-ul-Mujtaba said the BSF convoy from Baramulla was on way to Army’s 15-Corps headquarters in Badamibagh when the attack occurred.

He said security forces had launched a massive manhunt in the area to nab the assailants. Reports said immediately after the attack, police and para-military forces cordoned off the area to nab the culprits. No arrests were made till late in the evening.

The 15-Corps headquarter is just a few km away from the place of the latest attack.
The attack comes one week after fidayeen (suicide) militants stormed into a CRPF camp in Bemina area here killing five para-military personnel and injuring ten others including four civilians.

The two militants had also been killed in the attack while police arrested four suspects including a Pakistani national in the course of investigation.

Outfits own up

Hizbul Mujahideen and now defunct Jamiat-ul- Mujahideen militant outfits claimed responsibly of the latest attack in separate statements to a local news agency. The news agency, quoting Hizb spokesperson Baleeg-ud-Din’s tele statement, said its cadre carried out the attack.

He claimed the attack had been carried out in response to the rising human rights violations of security forces against people and warned that in the coming days they, would carry out more such attacks.

“We have formed a guerilla force with the aim to carry out such attacks,” the spokesman claimed.

The Jamiat spokesman Jameel Khan also claimed responsibility of the attack in a tele-statement to the news agency.
