'Every film cannot have romance'

Actress Bipasha Basu says that people should not look for any romantic element in Aatma, in which she is paired opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui. “Please don’t look out for romance. Every film cannot have romance.

You can be husband and wife but it’s not necessary that romance is at the forefront. There is a story — it is not just a supernatural horror film,” Bipasha says. About her co-star, she adds, “I had a good time working with him on this film. He is a very good actor. I really liked him in Kahaani.”

Aatma happens to be Siddiqui’s first film paired opposite a known actress like Bipasha. The film centres around a mother who must fight to keep her daughter safe from the ghost of her father. “The film shows the horror and fear of losing your loved ones. There is a strong (element of) human drama in the film,” Bipasha observes. Describing her role, she adds, “It is about a modern day woman, who is successful at her job but
vulnerable when it comes to protecting her loved ones. There is a realistic approach to the three characters in the film.”

This supernatural drama is directed by Suparn Verma and releases on March 22.
