Woman who jumped parole held

A woman life convict in a murder case, who had been absconding after jumping parole in 2009, has been arrested.

A newly wed woman was burnt to death in Byatarayanapura police limits in 2004. Leelamma, the woman's mother-in-law and Daisy, her sister-in-law, were convicted ofsetting her ablaze for want of more dowry. The third ACMM court in the City had sentenced both of them to life term.

Daisy, who was in the Parappana Agrahara Central Prisons came out on a 90-day parole on July 24, 2009. She was to return to the prison by October 23, 2009. But she jumped parole and was absconding since then. Prison authorities had lodged a complaint with the Byatarayanapura police.

Police, who had been working on the case, achieved a breakthrough recently when they found Shyam, a relative of the absconding convict who had given surety for Daisy while applying for parole. His interrogation revealed that Daisy was living with her family in Neralur village in Anekal. Police rushed to the village and arrested her.

Labourer electrocuted

A construction worker was electrocuted at a building where he was working at
A Narayanapura in the City on Wednesday night.

Dharmaraj, 24, was a resident of A Narayanapura and a native of KGF.

According to the police, he was fixing neon lights to an advert hoarding with neon lights, on the first floor of an under-construction building, when he was electrocuted.

Though he was rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared brought dead.
