3 docs arrested for boy's death in hospital

The boy died in Madikeri following a surgery for appendicitis


Alleging that the negligence of the doctors led to the death of the boy, public and the members of Jaya Karnataka staged a protest. Heeding to the protestors, three doctors were arrested.

Venkatesh (Sunil), son of Somashekar and Baby in Indira layout of Kushalnagar underwent surgery at noon. However, after the surgery, he developed breathing problem. Owing to lack of equipment, he was shifted to private hospital. However, he died after half an hour.

The public along with Jaya Karnataka activists took District Surgeon Dr Ajith Kumar and seven others to task in the hospital. As the protest intensified, police arrested anaesthesiologist Dr Ravi Kumar, Dr Vishwanath Sampi and Dr Abdul Ajeej.

A case has been registered against these doctors. However, the arrested doctors were produced before JMFC Judge Prema who released them on bail. Since none of the doctors came for conducting post mortem at the district mortuary, public staged protest in Kushalanagar.
