Wanted gangster held in Najafgarh

A wanted member of inter-state Kartar Singh Mandothi gang has been arrested for involvement in murdering four youths at Haryana’s Bahadurgarh city in 2011, police said on Sunday.

Rajesh, 41, who hails from Haryana’s Jhajjar district, was apprehended in south west Delhi’s Najafgarh on Friday.

He along with 11 members of the gang had gunned down the youths, including a former Mandothi village sarpanch’s son, at Jhajjar–Bahadurgarh Road on August 3, 2011.

Police had received a tip-off that Rajesh would come to meet his family members at Vipin Garden at around 11 am on Friday.

“He was held after a raiding party was formed and nakabandi was done at Najafgarh-Kakrola Road,” said Ravindra Singh Yadav, additional commissioner of police (crime and railways).

During interrogation, Rajesh told police that he is an active member of Kartar Singh Mandothi gang and kept changing his hideouts to avoid arrest.

It has come to light that a reward of Rs 10 lakh was announced by Haryana Police, and he was declared a proclaimed offender. Rajesh worked as a truck driver and came in contact of Kartar Singh in 2006.
