Clear flex boards in district, says DC

Government advertisement banners have not yet been taken off at various places of the district, even after election dates were announced last week.

The mobile vigilance squads should take up extensive tour across the district to clear those banners, directed Deputy Commissioner D S Vishwanath.

He was addressing a meeting of officers organised to discuss poll preparations at the Zilla Panchayat auditorium here on Tuesday.

He issued strict directions to all the gram panchayat officers to clear all the banners of government projects and also others.

Seven teams have been formed in the district — ahead of Assembly elections — to ensure free and fair polling. These teams will be on vigil throughout the district, failing in which, strict measures will be taken against the team, added Vishwanath.

The seven teams are video squad, auditing squad, control room and call centre squad, media in-charge squad, mobile vigilance squad and static surveillance squad. He directed the excise officials to be on alert to check distribution of liquor.

In view of a ban on writing on wall, Vishwanath asked the officials to issue strict action against those who violate it. ZP Chief Executive Officer S M Zulfikar Ulla said a series of awareness programmes will be organised to sensitise people on voting to ensure cent per cent voting.

District Superintendent of Police Ram Nivas Sepat, ZP deputy secretary Badanur and Additional DC R S Peddappaiah were present.
