Tension gripped the communally-sensitive powerloom town of Bhiwandi neighbouring Mumbai in the early hours on Thursday allegedly over a provocative post on a social networking site, police said.
A mob took to the streets in sensitive Rabodi area at around 1:30 a.m. and damaged some vehicles following reports of the alleged post, they said.
According to police, the situation continues to be tense but is under control.
