Two dead, seven injured in SUV, car head-on collision

Two people died on the spot and seven others were injured in a head-on collision between a Sports Utility Vehicle and a car on National Highway 4 near Daarepalli Mitti in Mulbagal on Friday evening.

Police said the deceased travelling in the car were identified as husband and wife and as software engineers but their names were yet to be ascertained.

The three-year-old girl believed to their daughter escaped miraculously.

The SUV was on its way to Kolar Gold Fields from Tirupati while the car was on its way to Andhra Pradesh from Bangalore when the collision occurred.

Some of the injured travelling in the SUV have been identified as Kishore, Maruti, Devamma, Seena and Geeta. All them are said to be relatives of Kolar Gold Fields former CMC member Dayanand.

Eyewitnesses said due to the impact of the collision, the woman travelling in the car fell out it and died on the spot.

The injured have been admitted to Kolar Medical College, said police. The reason for the collision is yet to be ascertained, they added.

The Mulbagal police which rushed to the spot removed the mangled remains of the SUV and car with the help of earth movers to clear the road.
