Udupi District Congress President K Gopala Poojary has challenged BJP leaders to urge for a CBI enquiry on the corruption allegations during D V Sadananda Gowda’s administration in State, as former chief minister himself alleged of corruption against a minister of his own cabinet.

Speaking to media persons, Poojary said that if BJP leaders respect morality, they should take a move. Congress will definitely support them, he said. About the election preparations, he said that according to the directions of MP Oscar Fernandes, election and campaign responsibilities are distributed in every constituencies. The party workers will create awareness among people about the corruption, misappropriation, partisanship of BJP government and about scams.

The process of selecting winning candidates for all five constituencies of the district is in progress. The first list of the candidates will be released by April first week, he said.

As many as 25,000 ration cards have been suspended as the families could not submit the electricity bill.

Though district-in-charge minister had assured of providing justice, no action has been taken till now. “The district administration should act to provide ration for the families,” he demanded.

Welcoming the move to form Baindoor taluk, Poojary said that the administrations should value the decision of gram Panchayats during the bifurcation of villages.

Answering a query, he said that B M Sukumar Shetty who recently joined Congress was never a member of Congress. He has good contact with the party leaders and he was well known religious leader. “The Congress is not a person-centred party. It was developed over the strong foundation of values. We are confident of getting all communities in society into confidence,” he said.

Congress leaders have decided to file nomination on April 15, from 12.15 pm. To get voters into confidence, bike rallies will be organised on April 2, April 4 and April 7 at Alloor, Kaalthodu and few other places.
