Two persons, including a 50-year-old school teacher, were shot at in separate incidents at north east Delhi’s Bhajanpura and Gokulpuri.

Both the victims are undergoing treatment at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, police said on Friday.

In the first incident, a 50-year-old school teacher was shot at by an unidentified assailant at her house in Bhajanpura on Friday.

Deepa stays with her son Manish, 18, at Bhajanpura K-Block and works with Nav Bharat Public School on Wazirabad Road.

The mother-son live on the first floor of the house, while the ground floor is given on rent to a family.

“It is claimed that a youth had arrived at the house at 1.30 pm, seeking to take the ground floor on rent,” a police officer said.

Deepa was showing the rooms to the youth, while Manish was on the first floor.
“Manish heard a gunshot after some time and came downstairs. He was shocked to see his mother lying in a pool of blood,” the officer added.

Deepa was shot in her back. She was rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.
“Her condition is critical,” the officer said.

As the house was not ransacked, police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the attack. Police are investigating the case from property dispute as well as personal enmity angles.

Property dealer shot

In a separate incident, a 23-year-old property dealer was shot at allegedly by another property dealer at the latter’s house in Gokulpuri on Thursday.

Pinkesh lives with his family in Loni in UP. The accused, Ishwar Singh, 28, has been arrested and a country-made pistol recovered.

“Pinkesh was having a business rivalry with Ishwar over some property. On Thursday night, Pinkesh came to Ishwar’s house in Brijpuri to discuss their problems,” another police officer said.

An argument broke out between them and Ishwar took out his pistol and fired at Pinkesh. The bullet hit Pinkesh’s thigh and he started screaming. Hearing the gunshot, a neighbour informed police.

A police team took Pinkesh to GTB Hospital, where he underwent surgery.
Pinkesh’s statement was recorded after doctors declared him fit for giving a statement.

Separate incidents of attempt to murder have been filed with Bhajanpura and Gokulpuri police stations.
