India not taking their rivals lightly: Zeeshan

India might start strong favourites in their forthcoming Davis Cup tie against Indonesia but they won’t take their rivals lightly, according to coach Zeeshan Ali.

“Sure, we have an all win (5-0) record against them, but we will not take this tie lightly as it is a must-win match for us after the loss to South Korea in February,” said Zeeshan on Saturday.

Zeeshan regretted that India were unable to field a full strength squad against South Korea.

“It was a missed opportunity and we could have won that tie with a full team and later at home in October, we could have taken on Japan on home courts. But I am glad all the boys are back and are keen to put on a good show.”

Zeeshan said the Indian doubles combination was yet to be finalised. “Either it could be Leander with Yuki Bhambri or Leander and Sanam Singh,” he added.

Meanwhile, the two reserve players, Vijayant Malik and Sriram Balaji arrived on Saturday along with practice players Ramanathan Ram Kumar and Arjun Khade. Captain S P Misra also landed here later in the evening.

Somdev Dev Varman, Yuki Bhambri and Sanam Singh are expected to arrive on Sunday night while Leander Paes, who has reached Mumbai, plans to spend Easter Sunday there and arrive in Bangalore on Monday.

The Indonesian squad is slated to land on Monday night.
