Group clash in Kolar

A group clash broke at Kilaripet in Kolar, on Saturday, when a resident who submitted a appeal demanding basic amenities to the MLA Varthur Prakash was attacked by a CMC member’s husband and his supporters. In the clash, 2 two-wheelers and a car were damaged and  some people resorted to stone throwing.

MLA Varthur Prakash, as scheduled arrived at Kilaripet to inaugurate new anganwadi centre and was addressing the gathering when one Ramanjinappa, a resident of the Kilaripet rose to submit a appeal seeking basic amenities amidst the programme.

However Mestri Narayanaswamy, husband of the City Municipal Council’s member Radhamma objected to this and called it unnecessary as development works were being carried out.

Though MLA Varthuru Prakash pacified both of them, quarrel broke out between the two after Varthuru’s departure. The quarrel reached its peak when Narayanasway slapped Manjunath, a relative of Ramanjinappa.

Attack on houses

However Narayanaswamy, not content with this, along with  his men in the evening, attacked the houses of people who had submitted the appeal to MLA in morning.  The miscreants set fire to two-wheelers and damaged a car. Tension prevailed for some time when the other group clashed with Narayanswamy’s men.

SP K P Puttaswamy and Additional SP S R Phaneendra Singh rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

One injured

Mestri Appaiah was injured in the clash and is being treated at S N R Hospital. A case has been registered by the police.

Resolve civic woes: Varthur

  “ The new CMC president should resolve the problems of power cuts, lack of street lamps, improper drainage system and other civic issues in the city,” suggested legislator Varthur Prakash.

He was addressing gathering at Kilaripet in Kolar on Saturday, after inaugurating anganwadi centres at various places.

Honest efforts should be directed towards making Kolar, a model city in a short span. Cleanliness drive should be conducted in the settlements, where people belonging to minority communities are concentrated, pointed the legislator to the CMC president.  Though there are several problems plaguing Kilaripet, the general public have not approached me seeking redressal. I have been only appraised of the situation in today’s meeting.

The problems of the city will be addressed in six month’s time,” legislator Varthur Prakash.Before addressing the open meeting at Kilaripet, the legislator Varthur Prakash inaugurated anganwadi centres at Vinayaknagar, Mohammednagar, Galpet, Bidi Colony, Taraksha Mohalla and K G Mohalla.
