A high-level meeting of police officials from Dakshina Kannada and southern range (Mysore) was held in Mangalore on Saturday, where the future steps of investigation were discussed.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, IGP (Western Range) Gopal B Hosur said the department was gathering all files related to UDRs and missing cases of woman, as well as the photographs of those women who had died under unnatural circumstances. He said the police would try to find out whether the accused was involved in more number of murder cases, with the help of the old files.

“The number of cases with a link to the accused may increase,” he said and added that the department would request the court to extend the police custody of Mohan. The Bantwal court had remanded the accused to the police custody till October 27. Asked about the allegations that the police are unnecessarily linking UDRs to Mohan’s account, the IGP said the investigations are still in progress.

“The cases revealed till date are those confessed by the accused himself. We have also got proper links between his confession and the cases registered earlier,” he pointed out.
