JOIN USThe FIR, lodged at the Aashiana police station in Lucknow, charges Amar Singh and some unnamed officials of a private cell phone company with fraudulently obtaining the call details of Shivakant Tripathi’s cellphone and publicising them throughout the media with an intention to defame him.
In his complaint, Shivakant Tripathi alleged that Amar Singh and the company officials had connived to obtain the call details.
The illegally procured details were then used to damage his public image through the media, he said.
Tripathi had lodged a complaint with the Kanpur police on October 15, accusing Singh, Bollywood hero Amitabh Bachchan and some others of misappropriating funds to the tune of Rs 500 crore by fraudulently merging a number of companies in which he had stakes.
Police said the matter would be probed. According to reports, Tripathi was in constant touch with a senior official in the chief minister’s secretariat for almost a month before the FIR was lodged.
