Arrears of rent BDA seals shops

 The Bangalore Development Authority on Wednesday sealed around 12 shops in Nagarabhavi Shopping Complex for non-payment of rent for several years.

According to BDA officials the allottees of the shops were in arrears of rent to the tune of more than Rs two crore. The Authority in the recent days has shut down shops at Indiranagar, HBR Layout and Domlur.

While the government offices in the BDA-owned complexes owe a total of Rs five crore in rent, commercial establishments are in arrears of Rs 11 crore towards rent. Sources said the BDA may seal the government offices too if they failed to clear the dues.
