The 22-year-old Parul won 5-7, 7-6(6), 6-3 in the round of 32 match.
Two other Indians, wild card Soniya Dayal of Maharashtra and Vizag-born, Delhi-based Rishika Sunkara, fell by the wayside in the opening round.
Seventeen-year-old Soniya was beaten 3-6, 3-6 by her 21-year-old Korean rival Seo Soon-Mi while the soon-to-be-16 Rishika was thrashed 4-6, 0-6 by eighth seed He Chu Yan of China, ranked 772nd in the world.
