In January 2005 Manchester man Ajay Kaushal, 50, was handed out a 15-year jail term in his absence at Preston Crown Court for the kidnapping of a businessman Alec Cunnigham.

Kaushal was part of a seven-member gang involved in the June 2003 case, but he skipped bail before the trial started. The UK police has been looking for him ever since. The British media said the Lancashire Police’ Serious and Organised Crime Squad have Kaushal on their most wanted criminal list. They suspect he fled the country and was probably living in south-east Asia. SP A V Deshpande said on Monday that Briton Youdul William Scot, 39, who was found dead in his hotel room in Colva, South Goa on Sunday had arrived here the day before from Bangkok with a male friend, a British national of Indian origin.

Scot was found dead in his room after a night out on Sunday morning. The police said a drug overdose was the likely cause of death from the circumstantial evidence, but they were waiting for the post mortem report to confirm this.
