JD(S) promises water to drought-hit areas

Kumaraswamy addresses party conventions in Shidlaghatta, Chikkaballapur

JD(S) State president H D Kumaraswamy assured the voters of delivering drinking water and finding a permanent solution for irrigation. He was addressing the public at a publicity campaign held here on Friday.

Addressing the people gathered in Nehru Stadium here he said that if JD(S) came to power, within 24 hours he would take all necessary steps to deliver water to drought hit areas and find a permanent solution for irrigation.

Loan waiver

He also promised a hundred percent waiver of loans availed by farmers. “We would also promise monthly compensation of Rs. 5000 to persons aged above 70 and Rs. 8000 to 80 above. Physically challenged persons would get Rs 1,500 as stipend. From 4 to 12 month, pregnant women would get Rs 5000 per month,” he said.

Kumaraswamy expressed his annoyance over Veerappa Moily, MP for Chikkaballapur district “Moily has hardly worked for the betterment of silk market and water delivery in the district. When he has done nothing for the district, how can he say that he would not got to Delhi till Congress comes to power in the state?” he questioned.  

Before the publicity campaign, JD(S) carried out a huge procession of party workers. JD(S) candidate M Rajanna, leaders like Dr. Dhananjaya Reddy, Dr. Jayaram, Bunk Muniyappa were present.
