Last Updated 20 April 2013, 17:34 IST

Activists and writers of Mysore have expressed their support for the Congress in the current elections.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, president of Nagarika Sangha and advocate Ravivarma Kumar said there was need for a stable government for development of the State. “In the present scenario, stability cannot be expected from either BJP or JD(S). So, there is only one option, that is the Congress,” he said.

He said that the people were fed up with the maladministration of the BJP. “The BJP has neglected social justice. The party has the highest number of both corrupt politicians and mine barons. They have corrupted the voters with money, liquor and caste feelings. Operation Lotus took corruption to new heights,” he said.

Anarchy

Writer Marulasiddappa said that there has been anarchy in the State over the last 10 years. “Governance is difficult without a majority. Sangha Parivar preaches matriarchy, but brutalises women. Congress is backed by the ‘Ahinda’ ideals, which is for empowerment of the backward classes,” he said.

S G Siddaramaiah said that even though 12 academies had been constituted, the government failed to nominate neither chairpersons nor members. Mavalli Shankar and state public prosecutor Chandramouli were present.
