Tiny tots who have so far been busy with music, dance and other activities at the ‘Chinnara mela’ summer camp in Rangayana, on Tuesday had a unique experience, when it came to the subject -- importance of Indian festivals.

Having researched on the various temples in the country, television anchor Deepika Madhav found it easy to keep her audience engaged.

Enthusiasm

The children, unmindful of the scorching heat gathered at Vanaranga, in Rangayana premises posed enthusiastic questions about the festivals and shared their views.
While talking about the festivals, she also brought into context the impacts of environmental pollution and the usefulness of bringing home eco-friendly Ganeshas during the Ganesha festival.

Bevu bella

She said that the practise of sharing ‘bevu-bella’ during the Ugadi festival, was likened to sharing joys and sorrows of life. She also explained the reasons behind the tradition viewing the moon on Ganesh Chaturthi day, and the story behind it.

Navratri

Observing Navratri festival by presenting a doll exhibition, ‘ayudha puja’ on the ninth day, and Vijayadashami on the 10th day was also detailed out to the children.
Stories on the festival of lights Deepavali, Sankranthi, and Holi also evoked a good response.

While some children were enthusiastic posing a variety of questions to clarify their doubts, some others were seen engrossed in their own.
