Probe agencies 'inquiring' five more

The investigating agencies probing the Malleswaram blast in Bangalore are ‘inquiring into’ the role of five persons arrested in Coimbatore on Friday in connection with another case.

The five arrested – M Askar Ali, M Nasser, S Asrath, A Sikandar and M Umar Farook – “are all wanted for a totally different case, namely, for the April 13 attack with petrol bombs on the residence of a Hindu outfit leader, Arjun Sampath, in Coimbatore,” top police sources in Chennai told Deccan Herald.

The five have since been remanded in judicial custody and are likely to be lodged in the Salem Central prison, the sources said.

The Karnataka police along with their Tamil Nadu counterparts and the National Investigation Agency sleuths, “are also inquiring” whether the five arrested are involved in  the Malleswaram blast. “We don’t know whether these five are involved or had any role,” but the Bangalore police team was also looking into that angle also, said a well-informed source in Chennai, adding, none should jump to any conclusions.
