JOIN USPakistani prisoner Sanaullah’s metabolic parameters are settling down, while he continues to remain critically sick and in a deep coma, Dr S N Mathuriya, head of the department of neurosurgery at the PGI Hospital here, said on Saturday.
Sanaullah, who was attacked a few days ago in a jail in Jammu, continues to remain almost in the same condition as on Saturday with no neurological improvement, the doctor said.
“The arterial blood gases are satisfactorily maintained on moderate oxygen flow. He continues to be on a ventilator. His blood pressure continues to be maintained with three inotropic drugs,” Dr Mathuriya said.
Any surgical intervention will depend on how the patient responds to treatment being administered to him.
Pakistani officials have already met doctors at the PGI. Specialist doctors are attending to the patient round-the-clock.
Katju’s plea
Meanwhile, agencies reported from New Delhi that Press Council of India chairman Markandeya Katju on Sunday appealed to the Central government to release the injured Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Ranjay as a “humanitarian act”. “I appeal to the Indian government to forthwith send back Sanaullah, a Pakistani prisoner who was attacked in a Jammu jail and is said to be in a coma, to Pakistan, as requested by the Pakistan government. This will be a humanitarian act,” Katju said on his blog.
