Bangalore wary of tricky Kings XI

Royal Challengers Bangalore are expecting an “extremely tough” clash against the home side Kings XI Punjab on Tuesday, said left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori.

The 34- year old New Zealander said that despite Kings XI not among the top teams in this edition, they were a strong opposition on home soil.

“Kings XI are a strong side in the home conditions. They have a strong batting line up, Shaun Marsh and David Miller have been quite good. We are expecting an extremely tough game tomorrow,” Vettori told reporters on the eve of the match.

The Challengers have won only one away match this year but Vettori insisted there was nothing to worry about. “We have not lost many games. It is too small a sample set to draw any conclusion. The team is very confident irrespective of the venue,” he said.
The lanky spinner has not played a single game this season. “It is part of the IPL. It is not really a problem,” he shrugged.

Asked about changes in the side for Tuesday’s match, the former Royal Challengers skipper said : “Cheteshwar Pujara is available for the game, I don’t know what the management has decided. On this kind of wicket, Ravi Rampaul will be good. He has done very well for us this season and should be back.”

Kings XI coach Darren Lehmann hoped his side puts up a concerted effort against Challengers.

“To be fair, we played very well in the last few matches even though we lost. We have been batting really well. Our bowling has went down a bit but if we can get both of them going together, we should be good.

“It is a long tournament and you tend to go a bit up and down. But I am very happy the way the team has fought in the last few games,” Lehmann said.
The Australian said they had a plan ready for the formidable Royal Challengers batting line-up.

“They (Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers) are great quality players. We do have plans for them. We will be looking to restrict their influence on the game,” he said.
