Carrying on the Bollywood tradition of modelling movies on real-life characters and incidents, it seems that the infamous killer Charles Sobhraj has captivated attention of film-makers.

Rumour has it that a full-length movie based on his life is in the pipeline. Noted directors have spoken with a glint in their eye about the life of this criminal, who made headlines through the 70s for his dozen murders and also went under the name of the Bikini Killer.
Recently, Arun Rangachari has acquired the rights of author Farrukh Dhondy’s book titled ‘The Bikini Murders’, that is reportedly based on the story of Sobhraj.

It remains to be seen, however, how successful this endeavour is. Earlier attempts at making a Sobhraj biopic had failed because of quick reaction from his lawyers. But now, the hurdle seems to have been circumvented with the acquisition of rights and the hunt to find the actor who can be the perfect on-screen Charles
is on.
