UP woman gave birth to twins on train, twice.

One may have heard about childbirth on speeding trains. But with an Uttar Pradesh couple it happened twice and on both occasions they were blessed with twins.

On Sunday, Zaibunnisha, a resident of UP's Gonda district, about 200 km from here, gave birth to twins on board the speeding Gorakhpur-Kushinagar Lokmanya Tilak Express near Unnao railway station, about 50 km from the state capital.

Zaibunnisha was on way to her home district from Mumbai, and was travelling in sleeper class. “My wife was pregnant, but the due date was a few days away,” said her husband Habibullah.

He added that his wife started experiencing labour pains as soon as the train reached Kanpur. “We thought about getting down at Kanpur and going to some hospital, but by the time we made up our mind, the train started,” he said.

Through the train ticket examiner, fellow passengers informed the railway authorities
in Lucknow of their condition, he said. “As the train moved from Unnao, her pain became unbearable, and a few minutes later, Zaibunnisha gave birth to twins,” he said.

“All the male passengers on the berths around us left the cabin during the delivery, and female passengers extended all the help they could,” said Habibullah.

The mother and the newborn twins were rushed to hospital as soon as the train reached the state capital, said railway officials.

“The mother and the twins were in good health,” they added.
Habibullah said that this is the second time such a thing has happened to them. Around four years ago, his wife had given birth to twins on another speeding train. “I have been blessed twice with twins on speeding trains,” he said.

He, however, admitted that it was a risky decision to travel when his wife was in her last month of pregnancy.
