Youth killed for ignoring horn

Road rage

In a shocking incident, a youth was allegedly killed as he did not give way to some drunk bikers on a narrow village road near the Sairpur locality, a few kilometres from the state capital.

The victim, identified as Radheyshyam, was beaten up by the youths on Wednesday and thrown into a pond. His body was fished out by the police on Thursday. It later turned out that the victim was “mentally retarded.”

According to police sources, the victim was walking in the middle of the road when three people in a bike blew the horn. But Radheyshyam did not give them way. Eye witnesses said the bikers blew the horn repeatedly but Radheyshyam kept walking in the middle of road.

The enraged bikers then launched an attack on the youth. Local people who had assembled there could not gather the courage to intervene. Reports said the victim was hit with bricks.

The assailants then threw the youth, who was in a semi-conscious state, into a pond and decamped.

The police launched a search operation soon but called it off after dark. The search operation was launched again on Thursday and Radheyshyam’s body was recovered from the pond.

“Radheyshyam’s mental condition was not well. He was receiving treatment for mental disorder,” his brother Ram Naresh told the police.

The police have registered a case. A manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits.
