A drive to find shelter for strays

Last Updated 12 May 2013, 20:33 IST

It was barking good time at the Precious Paws Foundation’s (PPF’s) adoption drive in Jayanagar 5th block.

Many people came out to show their support for the cause. Saagarika Shenoy, a student of Christ University who fosters a stray named Katy, said, “People get carried away by the idea of a breed. A pedigree dog doesn’t make him more of a dog. All dogs have love to give, buying or adopting makes no difference to that affection.”

Principle

The main objective behind the monthly drives that are held around the City is to find foster homes until the pups find new parents. They hope to send the message to like-minded pet lovers and strengthen the efforts of the Foundation, which is trying to make a difference for man’s best friend.

United by their love for animals and a desire to make a difference, the combined effort of the volunteers to create awareness was successful as three stray puppies — Lucky, Tiger and Mia — got new homes.

Vinitha Sreedevan, a volunteer at PPF, encouraged visitors to adopt canines.

“Today, most dogs are found abandoned on the streets. The Foundation helps us provide street dogs shelter and enables us to find them permanent homes.” she said.
