Religious institutions will not receive largesse from the government, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, however, adding that aid will be given for educational institutes run by them.

He was speaking to the reporters after taking blessings from Shivakumara Swami of the Siddaganga Mutt here on Sunday. He also said: “This year, there will be no special budget on agriculture. Instead programmes will be planned with the aim of helping farmers.

Preference will be given in the budget for mobilisation of resources. Criticising former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, he said: “No  mutts had requested Yeddyurappa to allocate grants for them.”

On discontentment among the Congress MLAs over ministerial berths, he said: “The Cabinet has been formed as per the high command’s decision. There is a chance of inducting an member of the Legislative Council, in the ministry. If disappointment persists, the high command will look into the issue and pacify them,” he said.
