A 17-year-old girl was allegedly drugged and gang raped after being kidnapped by three persons, including a juvenile, at north-east Delhi’s New Usmanpur. One of the accused has been arrested, police said on Monday.

The victim lives with her family in Jagjit Nagar and alleged that two of the accused are her neighbours, brothers Vijay and Ajay.

“A probe was initiated after the parents of the victim approached us on Sunday. We have arrested one of the accused, but two are absconding,” a police officer said.
In her statement to police, the victim claimed that she was gang raped after being kidnapped by the brothers and one of their friends on Saturday.

“She was given a glass of water laced with sedatives, drinking which, she fell unconscious. The accused then took her to an isolated area where she was sexually assaulted,” the officer added.

The accused also threatened the girl with dire consequences when she gained consciousness. “Thereafter they dropped the girl near her house,” the officer said.
She, however, informed her parents about the ordeal on Sunday. Her father immediately approached police after which she was taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital for a medical examination. “It confirmed that the girl was sexually assaulted,” the officer added.

A case was registered with New Usmanpur police station over the victim’s statement and medical report. The charges are of 376-2G (gang rape) and 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) under the Indian Penal Code, and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Police managed to arrest Vijay, but Ajay and the third accused are absconding.
“Vijay has confessed and we have gathered information from his interrogation. We are trying to locate them through technical surveillance,” the officer said.
